Welcome to Mainline South, a gallery compiled by Richard Stiles. The main aim of this gallery is to record the railway scene across Europe. Most of the scenes that interest me are disappearing, with modernisation sweeping away the old (but interesting) infrastructure. My focus is primarily hauled workings, either freight or passenger. A trip to Berlin, Poznan and back to Berlin from 8~15 May 2011. It was the first time I had stayed in Poland, and watching AL3s hauling stock, together with ET22s on passenger, certainly made it a good trip. We also visited the Zybasn~Wolsztyn~Leszno steam hauled line, which was absolutely magnificent and I would recommend to anyone. Kryz still seemed to have loco hauled workings to Pila (SM34 or SP32), but all hauled stock on local trains to Kostrzyn have ended.Read More
