Deutsche Bahn: Schleswig Holstein; July 2014
A short trip to see the Marschbahn, which was busier than normal due to closure of the main line from Germany to Danemark through Flensburg. All freight was diverted and hauled by Kolumna power. The unelectrified section is between Esjberg and Itezehoe which meant that instead of one or two locos working over and over, it was a large and mixed fleet of Kolumnas. Bonus shots are the ICs hauled by 218s (x8 per day), the autozug trains also 218 hauled, and the hauled Altona~Westerland NOB regional trains. Slighter downer was reduction of the MAK DE2700 diesels, which are being replaced by Siemens ER20 DE2000 locos. The trip kicked off at the ridiculously busy Hamburg Harburg station, a massive quantity of freight in just one hour. All in all, a superb trip with wonderful weather.
