Welcome to Mainline South, a gallery compiled by Richard Stiles. The main aim of this gallery is to record the railway scene across Europe. Most of the scenes that interest me are disappearing, with modernisation sweeping away the old (but interesting) infrastructure. My focus is primarily hauled workings, either freight or passenger. A trip to Tours in the Loire region, south west of Paris. Tours itself is a beautiful place, as are the towns in the Loire valley, such as Blois or Amboise. Due to a strike, the services were basically screwed for most of my visit, so working out what was running and when was nigh on impossible. The aim of the trip was to see BB9200 'Jacquemins' which didn't have long to go, ending in December 2010. RIP, they have now all gone :-(Read More
